Cheetham Salt No.1 (L6)

Cheetham Cheetham

Status: Operational

This locomotive is the sole survivor of three constructed in Cheetham Salt Limited’s Laverton workshops around 1962 to transport beach sand to reline the salt pans at the end of each harvest.

Originally fitted with a Ford engine, it was rebuilt about 1974 and refitted with a Morris B series engine.  By 1986 it had been abandoned at the Laverton Salt Works.

It was purchased by an ATTM member in 1988 and has been restored and returned to service.
